Our conductor and founder
Antoine Marguier
At the age of 22, Antoine Marguier was appointed as principal bass clarinetist in the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, a position he held for 16 years. At 27, his passion for ensemble music and his desire to teach led him to join the HEM (Higher School of Music) as a professor of bass clarinet, chamber music, orchestral techniques, and conductor for a tour in China.
As part of the school’s international collaborations, he has conducted masterclasses at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, Seoul National University, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
Among his mentors and teachers are renowned conductors David Zinman, Roberto Benzi, James Levine, and Kurt Masur. In addition to his international activities as a guest conductor, he has held positions as resident conductor of the Orchestre National de Lyon, music director of the Geneva Conservatory Orchestra, and the Seoul International Community Orchestra.
In Geneva, where he resides, Antoine is also the founder and conductor of the Compagnie du Rossignol and the Orchestre des Nations, with whom he has had the opportunity to accompany great musical personalities such as Renée Flemming, Khatia Buniatishvili, Maxim Vengerov, Gautier Capuçon, Alexandra Conunova, Barbara Hannigan, Miloš Karadaglić, and Pretty Yende.
In Geneva, Antoine is also a member of the Club Diplomatique and the Cercle des Entrepreneurs.
